About Andrew

Andrew McIntyre was one of the good guys.

Andrew practised law for many years, and he made significant contributions to the New Zealand Law profession. Throughout his career he worked with numerous people from a myriad of backgrounds, and that was the part of his work that inspired him the most. His work impacted many, and Andrew made himself unforgettable to all, an attribute that served him well in his community, professionally and personally.

Andrew’s battle with depression and mental health ultimately ended what was a beautiful life. We continue to celebrate Andrew’s life and what he meant to all of us everyday. We will carry the legacy of Andrew in our hearts forever, and through the Life Squared Trust we hope to honour the Andrew that we knew and loved.

A 3-year longitudinal research study at the University of Melbourne

The aim is to gain an in-depth understanding of mental health in New Zealand.

Learnings, insights and findings

These will be utilised to raise awareness of mental health issues and provide support through various initiatives.

Research Project

The Life Squared Trust are commissioning a 3-year longitudinal study to measure mental health and wellbeing in the legal profession with Professor Aaron Jarden, Melbourne University.

The aim is to understand in more depth (prevalence, enablers, barriers) and over time, the levels of, and changes in, mental health and wellbeing amongst the New Zealand legal profession.

The quality and level of research undertaken will also provide scientifically credible information to advocate for positive and preventative change in the legal profession. Such information may guide policy development and resource utilisation (e.g., investments in mental health and wellbeing programs that fit for the legal profession).
